User Needs Assessment and Data Visualization

A user experience research project with resulting data visualization.

For my graduate coursework at the University of British Columbia, I designed and executed a project to determine user needs from the Learning Commons Help Desk. The research question was modeled around the need to determine which resources were in the most demand to better serve users.

I designed and implemented a training program for undergraduate students enabling them to collect data during all working hours of the Learning Commons over the course of a month. After this data was gathered, I used Tableau to create visualizations. This helped me decide what changes should be made as well as helped me explain the issues to Learning Commons stakeholders.

The conclusions of this study resulted in several changes made both to the physical space and the request processes.
